Teleperformance aims to deliver 2000 seats during 2022 via a work-from-home model, starting with the on-boarding of employees during an initial pilot in April with 50 agents. They will be working closely with a local human resources provider for recruitment and payroll services during this phase with additional business facilitation support from the country’s national investment promotion agency (IPA), InvesTT.

“We are pleased to welcome Teleperformance to our market. This is a significant milestone in the local BPO industry and demonstrates an increasing level of investor confidence in Trinidad and Tobago. We will be providing them with continuous support after their initial set-up and will work closely with them to consider further expansion in the country", Sekou Alleyne, President InvesTT.

Some key advantages of Trinidad and Tobago as an ideal BPO location:

  • Labour pool - Skilled, English-speaking, diverse culture
  • Robust digital infrastructure facilitates work-from-home models
  • Country location below the hurricane belt minimizes operational downtime
  • Only 3.5 hours flying time away from Miami, Florida

InvesTT's Role

InvesTT made first contact with Teleperformance in November 2021 after the IPA promoted BPO investment opportunities during its virtual Trinidad and Tobago Investment Forum which attracted over 900 registrants. The Company was eager to explore the local landscape further and was facilitated by InvesTT during two site visits in November '21 and February 2022, providing free services such as country visit logistics, meetings with local providers, the Ministry of Trade and Industry and tours of prospective administrative office locations.

InvesTT continues to promote the opportunities available in Trinidad and Tobago’s fast emerging BPO industry to global prospects. This latest development follows on the heels of the expansion of iQor, a Florida-based outsourcing company, with its 3rd call center operation in Chaguanas, Trinidad. InvesTT was responsible for attracting iQor to establish in this country in 2015 and they have since grown to approximately 2000 employees. The IPA is also currently working with several other BPO operations who are considering Trinidad and Tobago as their next investment destination of choice.
