Manager, Investments

Job Summary

This position focuses on the management of inbound facilitation and outbound targeting of foreign and local direct investment for Trinidad and Tobago.  The role is responsible for directly identifying, engaging, facilitating, negotiating and closing new investments in Trinidad & Tobago. The role will also be responsible for identifying, engaging, facilitating, negotiating and closing new tenants for the industrial parks under InvesTT’s purview.

The Manager, Investments will be required to direct staff to engage in the above process towards making an initial (and follow up) site visit to Trinidad & Tobago as well as to respond to incoming investment interest toward the same end. The incumbent will also be required to identify new investment opportunities for Trinidad & Tobago as well as to advocate for policies to improve Trinidad & Tobago’s value proposition in all subsectors.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Deliver lead generation, site visits and investment targets for Trinidad and Tobago within specifically identified sub-sectors.
  2. Lead a team of Investment Officers expected to support delivery of targets while responding to incoming investor requests for information and referrals according to pre-determined protocols and standards.
  3. Supervise the direct targeting and attraction of new investors to Trinidad and Tobago toward a successful site visit and further to securing the investment.
  4. Oversee the direct targeting and attraction of new tenants to industrial parks.
  5. Manage and participate in investors' request for information (RFI) response process to international standards and benchmarks.
  6. Deliver excellent investor site visits.
  7. Coach and develop all Investment Officers to high levels of customer responsiveness and service.
  8. Identify new investment opportunities through collaboration with other areas of InvesTT as well as external stakeholders.
  9. Advocate for policies with the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to aid in the improvement of Trinidad & Tobago’s value proposition in respective sectors.
  10. Manage the due diligence and evaluation of investment opportunities to ensure that they meet InvesTT investment criteria as well as contribute positively to the sustainable economic development of Trinidad & Tobago.
  11. Oversee the Company's procurement procedures in accordance with the legislation for state enterprises.
  12. Prepare reports necessary for Executives, Board and Ministry.
  13. Develop and manage performance of subordinate staff while providing effective leadership.
  14. Comply fully with the Company’s policies and procedures, safety policies and procedures, Core Values and Charter of Business Ethics.
  15. Perform any other duties as required by the job function.

Education & Job Experience

  1. Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management or related discipline.
  2. Master’s Degree and/or MBA is not required but would be an asset.
  3. At least ten (10) years working experience.
  4. At least five (5) years’ experience managing B2B sales teams.
  5. Procurement experience in a state agency setting.
  6. Experience and knowledge of various business sectors locally/internationally will be an asset.
  7. Experience in the start-up or expansion process of companies would be an asset.
